Many people tend to struggle with maintaining youthful healthy skin as time goes by. The time and care that you spend with nourishing your skin puts time towards taking care of yourself, which is always important. Amna Bakht, a skin care beauty expert, is going to share her research and experience with Korean beauty and its benefits for your skin.

“Since I was a kid, I’ve had extremely dry skin. I have eczema on certain parts of my face which makes my skin slightly inflamed as well. I never had a specific skin regimen and would wash my face with a generic soap for sensitive skin in the morning and at night. I didn’t moisturize my face as anything I would use would clog my pores and make me break out. I don’t have acne prone skin, but my skin was dull, I had small blemishes and my nose tended to have a lot of blackheads.

I had heard a lot about Korean skin care, and have seen myself how great and youthful their skin always looks. So I decided to do some research about what would benefit my skin. I came across a website called Soko Glam and instantly found products that suited my skin.

Korean skincare consists of many steps (traditionally 10) and I’ll walk through all of them as they’re all crucial to the process. It should be done once in the morning and once at night before bed. For the best results, be consistent and don’t skip days. This blog will focus on step 1 of 8: The Double Cleanse. In the upcoming weeks, I’ll go through the remaining steps in detail, so stay tuned!

Before diving in, it’s important to say that these products worked well for me, but it is possible it won’t work for everyone’s skin. So try to see what doesn’t work for you, and adjust the products accordingly.

Products that I use:

Step 1:

COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser https://sokoglam.com/products/cosrx-low-ph-good-morning-cleanser

The Double Cleanse:

Double cleansing is very important in thoroughly cleaning your skin. Oil based cleansers gently remove makeup, excess sebum and other unwanted oils. In the same way that “like dissolves like” oil based cleansers are needed to dissolve oils. Water based cleansers remove the other residues on your face like dirt and dust.

Coconut Oil: I take about a digit (of my index finger) worth of coconut oil and rub it in my palm to make it a liquid consistency before applying everywhere on my face. Gently massage into your face removing your makeup and other residues for about 30 seconds. Then splash your face with lukewarm water and do this process again to emulsify. You don’t need to do this step in the morning. A water based cleanser is enough to cleanse your skin.

Neogen Green Tea Cleanser or COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser: Take one pump of the Neogen Cleanser or an appropriate amount of the COSRX gel, lather and clean your face. Massage for another 30 seconds or more and then rinse with lukewarm water.”

Stay tuned for Part 2 next week!
